Escalating heat hurts crop yelds

According to the The Miami Herald on January 2, 2015, "...Weather has been an overarching issue." Hot temperatures "accelerates how big and how fast crops grow." Temperatures are forecast to increase during the remainder of this century. Crops must be protected, not just from sea level rise, but from the scorching sun and climate warming. It's not just the urban areas that are being affected. Crops need to be able to cool in the evenings to grow. Sustained heat is detrimental to growth.
