The World Bank, in a post entitled "Communities Find Solutions to Tackling Climate Change in Flood Hit areas in Bangladesh," dated December 15, 2014, reported, "Around 15,000 families escapted the calamity of recent floods and protected their homes and assets by building on elevated grounds."
The government of the South Asian nation, which deals with extreme flooding and climate change impacts each year, established the Community Climate Change Project, which helps communities with adaptation. The project works in "saline affected coastal zones and other vulnerable areas."
Homes and farms were raised by five feet, on average, based upon the highest flood levels. According to the Bank, "Their crops are also being protected by elevation."
